As part of Mapletree Industrial’s initiatives to be eco-friendly, we have placed recycling bins at our three business park buildings – The Strategy, The Synergy and The Signature, starting from 3rd quarter 2012.
Now, instead of throwing away recyclable waste such as paper materials, glass bottles and metal cans, tenants of our three properties can play a part in the green movement by sorting out their trash and throwing them into the recycling bins located prominently at various common areas of the said properties.
Additional efforts are made to distribute recycling boxes to tenants of our business park buildings for their disposal of unwanted used paper which will then be collected and brought to the recycling collection centre of each building. The paper will in turn be sent for recycling by the appointed recycling vendor, Sembcorp Tay Paper Recycling Pte Ltd.
For every 1 tonne of waste paper recycled, 17 trees can be saved. Just recycling 1 aluminium can is able to save enough energy to keep a 100-watt bulb burning for almost four hours or run your television for three hours!
Moving forward, MIT will continue to support environmental friendly efforts and find ways to make our buildings a greener place to work in.
